It’s not easy taking that first step getting back to work after time out, but one firm is doing a little bit extra to make sure that womens work wear is available. Now this is a great idea as when people, male or female are getting back to the workplace it isn’t always easy to know or sometimes afford the right thing to meet employers’ dress codes.

A major recruiting firm has got together with its own members of staff and its clients to support the charity Smart Works, which offers practical help to women who find themselves out of work. The charity, with two sites in London and a new site planned for Edinburgh, helps to dress over 1,200 women a year in complete interview outfits which have been donated by other women in business.

We all know that first impressions in an interview really count. Employers can often make a decision about someone in an interview situation after just five minutes. If you find yourself on a low income or have been out of work, it is often difficult to have the right clothes available, so making it more difficult to make that right first impression.

The charity takes clients through a one hour session professional stylists help to make them look good so that they have the self confidence to face an interview. One-to-one interview training is also offered from a team volunteers who are all professional women who have a background in recruitment, or have experience in senior management. Everyone suffers from nerves when interviews are concerned, so this one-to-one technique gives people a chance to overcome any anxieties and so improve their self-confidence.

The success rate of the charity speaks for itself with over half of the clients securing a job within a month of attending sessions.

Good Luck to them, and here at Brookes we have a great range of quality womens work wear, at some great prices that this successful ladies can add to their wardrobe. All backed up by our great customer service.
