With hot summer temperatures all around ladies have more options when it comes to staying cool than mens workwear. However, there are still a few options if you still have to conform to an office dress code, although if you work outside then there are more. Here are a couple of things you might want to consider.

Fabric: Choosing the right fabric is crucial when dressing to combat heat and humidity. Clothing should be comfortable and breathable so consider cotton, linen and other natural fibres as these will all help to absorb moisture.

Style and Colour: For the suit you will need to look for partially lined jackets, or if the dress code will allow a sports blazer, as these tend to made of a lighter material rather then a heavy lined suit jacket. As far as colour goes aim for something lighter; obvious really as it won’t absorb as much heat as darker materials, try looking at white, camel, beige and light shades of gray as starting points.

Undershirt/Vest/T-Shirts: Whatever you call them having a layer is important as they will help to keep you cooler. They also act as a barrier between the skin and the shirt. Wearing a good quality cotton layer underneath your shirt will absorb perspiration and make it evaporate faster. Consider the more specialist layers that have a high wicking level.

Socks: Shoes without socks isn’t a look for the office as socks actually help absorb sweat, so you not only stay cooler, but you don’t have the smelly feet to contend with. Again it may be worth considering a lightweight walking sock, especially those which have had an anti-bacterial treatment as part of their manufacturing process.

Hats: OK, this won’t help when in the office, but for maximum protection outdoors a hat will protect our head from overheating, so check out what is available that suits you best.

Just a few ideas to try and help you get through the hot summer days in the office, but I’m sure that whatever mens workwear you need you will find it here at Brookes the home of workwear.
