Work has finally started on building a football themed hotel close to Manchester United’s Old Trafford Ground. A project that the club itself initially objected to and is now a joint project between the club’s own Supporters Club and Gary Neville, a former player who is using proceeds from his testimonial game, who is now plying his trade as a Sky pundit and working as part of the England team coaching set-up.

So for the next 18 months safety boots will be more likely to be the dress code, while construction of the ten-storey 138 room hotel is completed. This, we can help with as we have a great range of safety boots that are second to none. Whether rigger or ankle boots we have something to suit all situations, although I don’t think we can supply them in red. However, as the plans include a five-a-side football pitch on the roof, this might change. The 16m by 12m pitch will be built with a retractable roof and will be available for use by anyone wishing to play at the top of a ten-storey building.

When this is available to use you could always check out our range of trainer shoes, although some of the steel toecap versions might not be allowed to be used on the pitch for an actual game, derby or otherwise.

So a story to follow over the next few months as the new hotel takes shape and the work wear needs of the construction crews change, dependant on the weather. Just wonder what the colour scheme of the new hotel might be, don’t think blue is going to feature somehow.
