A recent study has found that men can take an average of 90 days to complete a DIY job around the home, and that is once they have decided it needs doing. Even though the same study found that carrying out those little jobs makes them more attractive to the opposite sex.

Every home at this moment has, on average three DIY jobs that require attention, and the most common reason for not getting them done is that we just can’t be bothered. The study also found that men are far more likely to put off jobs around the home than women, who on average get them done in just over two weeks.

This should be noted by the fellows out there as over a quarter of the females interviewed said that they found their partner more attractive when he was working on jobs around the house. In addition 15% answered that their man’s sex appeal increased once he had completed a DIY job.

All kinds of excuses were given for why they put DIY jobs off, the most popular being:

 “I’m too tired” – 41%

“I’ll do it tomorrow” – 34%

“I’m no good at DIY” – 22%

“I don’t have the right tools” 21%

The last answer is quite surprising as the same study revealed that each home has an average a collection of twenty tools, with men normally having twenty-six in their toolbox, but usually only ever using twelve of them. This means that the average UK household has spent over £450.00 on tools that remain unused. This is enough to pay to have a professional to complete the majority of jobs that need doing around the house.

The one job that most houses need completing is painting, whether this is one room in the house or more, so come on chaps why not bite the bullet, treat yourself to some new workwear trousers, and get those little jobs done, and score yourself some brownie points in the process. In fact another study recently found that 74% of women said that an aptitude for DIY was the most sexy trait a man could have and a staggering 61% claimed that they would actually be put off a potential partner if he wasn’t practical around the house.
